What was the highlight of Sunwing Alcudia Beach
Excellent location, great value, big room - f&b was good but seemed a little checked out.
Great location, less than a minute to the beach and beautiful view of the sea. We had a royal suite which had a big balcony with table, sofa and loungers so we felt we had a lot of space and relaxing options. Even in October there were a fair number of kids around, we don’t mind to be fair as it’s much nicer than a booze heavy adults only resort. The atmosphere was wholesome and calm, with little noise in the evenings but we did let them know in advance that we are a couple and would like to be not near all the kids if possible - ask for the Princesa building if that’s the case. Breakfast had great options, we loved that there was a water cooler instead of lots of plastic bottles.
Mostly we liked it! Had a kettle and a toaster, but no coffee making facility or sponge/cloth for washing up which was odd. We ran out of shower gel and it wasn’t topped up but we were fine. Breakfast was good but chaotic. Some days it seemed they didn’t bother clearing tables until every one was dirty, meaning we had nowhere to sit, then suddenly everyone has jumped on bussing. Must be chaotic to manage but they could do better to keep on top of it. Weirdest thing was when I went to order a Mallorcito cocktail i’d seen advertised (which was basically a mojito using a different spirit and was absolutely delicious) they told me “sorry this was cocktail of the day 2 days ago but not today.” So I asked for a normal mojito instead. The bartender then said “I can just make the Mallorcito if you want”…. So naturally I said ok, but it wasn’t as good. I‘ve been in senior hospitality positions and “cocktail of the day” is designed to promote sales in general, not just on one day, like a “why not try this” kind of thing which would encourage a customer to come back and spend more (seeing as every other bar sells a Mallorcito) so it felt hostile and petty to be told we only make this on a certain day even though we have the ingredients. It’s not like I can come back next Tuesday when it’s cocktail of the week again! Also Aperol spritz they use way too much Aperol and they should use jiggers not free pouring. Still - overall nice to have a cocktail in the sun it didn’t ruin the experience, I’m just fussy with service standards and hospitality.
